Battle of Chateauguay Scenario Rules

Chateauguay
October 26th, 1813

American Army

American Army Special Rules
1. Linear Tactics; Whole brigades have the same formation except to go around terrain.

2. Buck and Ball; American Regulars used "Buck and Ball", a round shot with three buck shots, they get +1 to hit at close range.

3. Ammunition Problems; American infantry units carried less ammunition than their British counterparts, and had logistical problems becoming resupplied during battles. To represent this, American infantry units which roll double 1s on their firing rolls are at half ammunition for the rest of the battle (half casualties). A subsequent double roll results in them being out of ammunition. This does not affect skirmishing units.

4. Chosen Men; Up to 12 men may be deployed as Chosen Men (Rifles). They roll 2D6 per 4 figures. They can form part of the skirmish screen or operate independently. They do not need to stay within 18 of close order units. This unit has a range of 17 inches.

5. Fear of Indians; All American units classed as second line or conscript, suffer -1 morale if within 12 inches of unbroken enemy Indians. Kentucky irregulars are not affected by fear of Indians.
